Dear Families,

As we begin our MAP testing this season, we want to share how important these assessments are for your child's learning journey. Students in grades 2-5 will take MAP Reading this week, and students in grades K-5 will take MAP Math next week. MAP testing provides us with essential baseline data that helps our teachers tailor daily instruction to meet every student's unique needs and build targeted intervention and enrichment groups. To help your child do their best, please ensure they get a well-rested night's sleep and eat a healthy, nutritious breakfast each morning. Arriving at school well-rested, fed, and ready to focus gives them the confidence they need to showcase their true academic growth. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your child's success!

Thanks for your partnership!

Shawn Komara, Maryland Elementary School Principal

David Schottner, Cassingham Elementary School Principal

Breakfast Buddies

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Breakfast Buddies on Thursday morning! It was wonderful to see so many members of our Maryland community come together, and our teachers and staff truly enjoyed serving breakfast to our current and former students and families. I am so grateful for the incredible turnout and especially happy that we were able to continue such a special Maryland tradition. We loved spending the morning with you and are already looking forward to our next Breakfast Buddies in the spring!

Forgotten Items

To help us minimize interruptions to the school day and keep traffic at our main entrance to a minimum, we kindly ask families to avoid making trips to school for forgotten items such as water bottles, snacks, instruments, homework, or other classroom materials. We know mornings can be busy and things are occasionally left behind! If your child forgets something, please know that our staff will do their best to help them navigate the day without it. For forgotten water bottles or snacks, we have both water and snacks available at school. Thank you for helping us keep the school day running smoothly while also helping our Mallards build independence and responsibility for the items they need each day!

Labor Day

As a reminder, there will be no school tomorrow, Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. I hope all of our Mallard families enjoy the long weekend and have an opportunity to relax, recharge, and spend some extra time together. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Maryland on Tuesday morning!
